Sacramento Events (sacramento.whatsupin.ai) is a free directory of public Sacramento region events, built and operated by whatsupin.ai. This policy explains what data it handles, and how.
Listings are collected from event pages and feeds that their organizers have already made public (event platforms, venue and organizer websites, library, city and park calendars). Each listing keeps only what is needed to find the event: title, date and time, venue/location, price, category tags, a short excerpt, and a link back to the original listing, where the details and tickets live.
The public data is free to use. Please keep the link back to each event's original listing, and be gentle with request volume (see robots.txt). The data is provided as-is, without warranty; always confirm details with the organizer.
You don't need an account, and the site doesn't ask you for personal information unless you sign up for the weekly email (below). It sets no cookies of its own, shows no ads, and uses no third-party analytics or tracking scripts. Events you save with ☆ stay in your own browser's storage and are never sent to us. To count visitors, the site's own server records one anonymous entry per visit: a one-way hash of your IP address and browser that changes every day (so it can't be linked across days or turned back into an IP), the site you came from, and whether you were on a phone or a computer. Using the Share button records only which share method was used. The optional feedback box stores the text you write (and an email only if you choose to add one), with no IP address or other identifier. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes standard technical request data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. Searches and filters run in your own browser against the public data file; they are not sent to us.
If you sign up for the weekly email, we store your email address, the city you picked (or, on the city chooser, the city you asked for), and the part of town and neighborhood you choose if you add them on the confirm page, along with when you signed up, confirmed or unsubscribed. No IP address or other identifier is stored with it. We use it only to send that city’s email (a welcome message now, then the weekly issue) and to count signups per city. We don’t sell, rent or share the list, except with the email delivery provider that sends the messages for us. Until you confirm your address you get at most the first three issues. Every email has an unsubscribe link that works at once; to have your address deleted entirely, write to [email protected].
Public event listings may be tagged or ranked with the help of automated software, including AI models.
If you ask an AI assistant to create a custom calendar, the conversation about your interests stays in your assistant (its provider's privacy policy applies there). Sacramento Events receives only the filters the assistant chooses to send (for example “wine, Lodi, weekends”) and stores none of them: the filters are packed into the calendar link itself, and the site rebuilds the calendar from the link each time your calendar app refreshes it. That means anyone you share the link with can read those filters. If you open the link on this site, your browser keeps a copy so the calendar shows in your Saved tab; that copy stays in your browser (like saved events) and is never sent to us. The ready-made calendars in the menu work the same way. To stop using one, remove it from your calendar app, and choose “Remove from this browser” here.
Past public listings are kept in a private archive to study trends and improve coverage.
